To look after our elders, is the highest religion.  What is the duty of today's youth?  It should be to take care of their elders.

The student should keep everyone happy, both at home and at school. He should keep everyone happy wherever he goes & He should also concentrate on his studies. Where did you get this word 'ideal' from? He should talk and behave nicely with elderly people, and he should not talk back to them; that is called an ideal student. Do you know how to keep everyone happy? How do you do that? Let us see what Dadashri say ………..

Dadashri: Do you like to study?

Questioner: Yes, I do.

Dadashri: What standard are you in right now?

Questioner: I am in the ninth standard.

Qualities-of-an-ideal-student

Dadashri: Will you pass every year or you will fail & sit for two or three years?

Questioner: I will pass every year.

Dadashri: That is good. But now take the name of 'Dada Bhagwan' (fully manifested Lord within A. M. Patel, The Gnani Purush Dadashri) everyday. You will get ready, say Dada Bhagwan's name while going and coming back from school. This way you will learn everything by reading just once, you will not have to read again. Say the name of 'Dada Bhagwan' while you are going to school and speak the name of 'Dada Bhagwan' even while you are coming home. Would you like that?

Questioner: Yes.

Questioner: What qualities should an ideal student have?

Dadashri: The student should keep everyone happy, both at home and at school. He should keep everyone happy wherever he goes & He should also concentrate on his studies. Where did you get this word 'ideal' from? He should talk and behave nicely with elderly people, and he should not talk back to them; that is called an ideal student. Do you know how to keep everyone happy? How do you do that?

Questioner: I should behave nicely with everybody.

Dadashri: Yes, that's it, in a nicer way! And what if someone treats you badly?

Questioner: No one has treated me badly so far.

Dadashri: Yes, but what would you do if someone does treat you badly?

Questioner: I would try to guide him on the right path.

Dadashri: Otherwise you should move away at that time just as you would if a cow tries to hurt you. But then you should not throw a stone at the cow and hurt it. You just have to know that it is bad tempered. If you know just this much then you should proceed with caution. Should you not be cautious with a foul tempered cow? Will you know how to walk with caution? Whom do you not get along with?

Questioner: I get along with everyone.

Dadashri: Whom do you get irritated with?

Questioner: I have never been irritated with anyone; I don't get irritated with anyone.

Dadashri: Do you like what I am saying? Do you feel bored?

Questioner: I like it that is why I am sitting here.

Dadashri: Do you ever tell a lie?

Questioner: Yes, I do.

Dadashri: What harm does lying cause?

Questioner: It causes harm.

Dadashri: You lose people's trust.

Questioner: We should speak with them in a way that we make them understand.

Dadashri: Yes, when you lose people's trust, you lose your worth as a person. If someone lies to you then you will feel hurt, so in the same token if you tell a lie to someone, then how much hurt will he feel? And one should give happiness, not unhappiness to others; that is a good business. Should we keep a stock of happiness or unhappiness in the store? Should we keep stock of happiness or unhappiness when we open a business?

Questioner: Only of happiness, Dada?

Dadashri: Yes, we should give the stock of happiness to all. At that time, even if we get unhappiness, we should give happiness to others. Did you understand? Ultimately, happiness will win over, not unhappiness. We should keep only the stock of happiness in the store. We should open a business of happiness. If someone comes to you for advice, then give him good advice. If someone comes to fight with you then you should say, 'If I have made a mistake then I ask for your forgiveness, so tell me what happened? Why are you doing this?' You should bring about a resolution. Can you not do that?

Questioner: Yes, I can.
